SONGER, JAMES EDWARD ?Eddie?, age 55, of Roanoke, passed away Sunday, May 6, 2007. He was a former employee of Graham-White Foundry in Salem and proudly served his country in the U. S. Army with a tour of duty in Korea.
He was preceded in death by his father, Harry Marshall Songer and mother, Clarice Holdren Songer.
He leaves to cherish his memory his children, Crystal Songer, Steven Songer and Ricky Songer; brothers and sisters-in-law, Bobby W. & Fannie Songer of Staffordsville, VA; Jerry & Jill Songer of Christiansburg, VA; Gary & Jean Songer of Blacksburg; sisters and brother-in-law, Norma J. Hall of Christiansburg, VA; Sharon & Leo McMahon of Madison, Wisconsin; the love of his life, Gwen Hairston; step daughters, Lavinia and Daphne Hairston; step son, Clarence Swain, special step grandson, Tyrese Hairston and four step grandchildren. Several aunts and uncles and numerous nieces and nephews also survive him.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 8, 2007 at the Horne Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 9 at the Horne Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dewey Weaver and Rev. Henry Haskins officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Christiansburg.
