SOWERS, JAMES EDWARD ?PETE?, age 76, passed away Thursday, November 10, 2005 at his home in Christiansburg.
He was the son of the late Christopher and Lydia Moles Sowers. He was a member of the Park United Methodist Church, enjoyed gardening, hunting and fishing. Pete was the owner and operator of Sowers Trucking Company. He was a veteran having served during the Korean War with the U. S. Army.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 43 years, Annetta Akers Sowers; two daughters and sons-in-law, Wanda & Tim Johnson of Christiansburg; Sandra & Mike Royal of Riner; two precious grandchildren, Kyle Johnson and Michael Royal, II; sisters and brothers-in-law, Mae & Delmer Strickler and Jane & Roy Shelton all of Floyd and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. Saturday, November 12, 2005 at the Horne Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, November 13 at the Horne Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Kenneth D. Farrar officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Christiansburg. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Park United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, 306 Park Street; Christiansburg, VA 24073. the Gentle Shepherd Hospice Charities, 4005 Electric Road, Suite 202; Roanoke, VA 24014.
