James Williams

October 16, 1917 — January 8, 2012

James Eugene Williams, 94, of Christiansburg, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 8, 2012.

He was predeceased by his wife, Helen Allen Williams.

He is survived by his daughter, Deborah Whitt, of Big Stone Gap, VA; son, Allen (Zeke) Williams, of Christiansburg; grandchildren, Richard A. Whitt, of Big Stone Gap, VA, Ryan and Kevin White of Pasadena, MD, Travis Williams, Danielle Williams, and Elliott Williams, all of Christiansburg; great-grandchildren, Bradley, Ella, James and Zoiee; brother-in-law & sister-in-law, Dan & Lillian (Dill) Allen of Salem; niece Judy W. Belcher; nephew Michael Williams; as well as several other nieces and nephews.

Jim was a veteran of World War II, being a member of the 14th Army Air Force Flying Tigers in the CBI Theater, and a 50 year member of the McDaniel Masonic Lodge 86 AF & AM.

He was employed for over 35 years with the Virginia Department of Highways and retired from the Bristol District as Maintenance Engineer. He was also a member of the Edgemont Christian Church.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 11, 2012, from 5-8 pm at the Horne Funeral Home. The funeral service will be conducted with Masonic Rites and held on Thursday, January 12, 2012, at 2 pm at the Horne Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Peter Anderson, Rev. Bobby Sutphin and Pastor Neal Turner officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Christiansburg.
