James Craig Yeager

James Craig Yeager, 76, of Christiansburg, VA passed away on Monday, January 30, 2023.
Born in Alton, IL in 1947, he was the son of James S. and Lorraine A. Yeager of Bethalto, IL.
Jim graduated from Alton High in 1965 and from Lake Forest College in 1969, with a degree in
Industrial Engineering. He went on to have a long career with Sonoco Products Company in
South Carolina, and later in Europe as company Vice President. Jim loved animals, sports and
music. He liked a good round of golf and was a life-long St. Louis Cardinals fan. He especially
enjoyed listening to the music of the Rolling Stones, Grateful Dead, and Eric Clapton.
Jim is survived by his wife, Ljiljana Yeager, who he met while living in Europe; his children from
his first marriage; daughter, Gretchen Yeager-Madrigal; son, James Craig Yeager II;
grandchildren, Alexys and Garrett Templin, brother, Steven A. Yeager; niece; Angela Yeager;
nephew, Derek Yeager; and other family and friends. He is sadly missed by his beloved dog,
Izzy.
A celebration of Jim’s life will be held in Alton in May. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your
local Animal Humane Society in Jim’s name.
