Jane Brown

August 21, 1927 — October 24, 2010

Brown, Jane Allen Crush, 83, passed away quietly, in the comfort of her home on Sunday October 24th, 2010, after fighting the battle with cancer.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Judge Charles Wade Crush and Eliza Clay Allen Crush; her husband of 51 years, Donald LeRoi Brown.

She is survived by her daughter, Donna B. Carpenter and husband Charles, of Gooding, Idaho; her son, Allen Douglas Brown and wife, Susie, of Texas; her son, Charles Crush Brown and wife, Lee Ann, of Chicago Ill.; her daughter, Elizabeth "Randi" Price and husband, John, of Christiansburg; also many grandchildren, Kathrine and Eliza Tindall, Tanner and Jadene Carpenter, Tamara Craft, A.J. and Greg Brown, Stacy Hulak, Don Paul, Richard Brown, Kitt Edwards, Shannon Slusser, Ray Todora, Steven Sean Price, and Dennis Pascal Slusser; great grandchildren, Evan Craft, Jennifer and Elizabeth Rose Hulak, and two on the way; also surviving her are two lifelong friends, Betty Ferguson, of N.C., and Virginia Giles, of Christiansburg, and a special new friend, Jene Taylor, of Christiansburg.

Mrs. Brown has been a fixture in Christiansburg and her family ties go back to the Revolutionary War. She worked with the public almost all her life. Her wealth of knowledge about the history of Christiansburg and Montgomery County, she was a resource for many historians and geneologists. Flowers will be accepted, but if you would like to make a donation instead, please direct them to either the Christiansburg Presbyterian Church or to the Christiansburg Rescue Squad.

The family will receive friends at Horne Funeral Home from 6p.m.-8p.m., Wednesday, October 27, 2010 and a Memorial Service will be held at the Christiansburg Presbyterian Church at 11a.m., Thursday, October 28, 2010 with Dr. Don Makin officiating.
