Janet Van Lierop Caverly, 84, of Christiansburg passed away January 4, 2014 at Roanoke Memorial Hospital of unknown lymphoma, pneumonia, and other complications. Born in Cincinnati, Ohio, she was preceded in death by her parents, Henry John & Anna Van Lierop; son-in-law, Michael Overstreet; brother, John Van Lierop and sister, Marta de Dreu.
Survivors include her beloved husband of 62 years, Robert H. Caverly, Christiansburg; son, Dr. Robert H. Caverly & wife, Maggie, Downingtown, PA; daughter, Anne Caverly Overstreet, Blacksburg; grandsons, William R. Caverly & wife, Sarah, Elverson, PA, Matthew Caverly, Downingtown, PA, Jacob T. Overstreet, Martinsville, VA and Daniel R. Overstreet, Dayton, OH; sister, Marie Duermit and husband, Donald, Dallas, PA and 27 nieces and nephews and other relatives.
The family received friends on Wednesday, January 7, 2015, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Horne Funeral Home with a Rosary service at 7:30 p.m. The Rite of Christian Funeral was held on Thursday, January 8, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Blacksburg, with Father Remi Sojka officiating. Following a reception at the church, interment was at the Memorial Gardens of the New River Valley.
