ENGEL, JANET A., 84 of Christiansburg, Virginia, passed away on January 6, 2009 at her home.
She was born on October 13, 1924 to Elsie and B. Gregg Abbey.
Janet graduated from Niagra Falls High School and from William Smith College in Geneva, NY. Janet taught math in Springville, NY. She was a member and past president of Concord Historical Society, DAR, Eastern Star, a member of Griffith Institute Faculty Association, and a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, of Springville, NY she was also a member and past president of ECW. Janet was a devoted Christian.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert A Engel whom she married in 1952.
She is survived by daughter and spouse, Charity and Mike Cheiky, sisters and spouses, Ginger Trautwein, Rusty and Charles Shadel, nephews spouses are Gregg and Bonnie Shadel, Derrick and Peggy Shadel, Alan Hornquist, and many great nieces, nephews and cousins.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 10, 2008 at 2:00pm at St. Thomas Episcopal Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Thomas Episcopal Church.
