Jean Rebecca Norris Jones of Riner, Virginia passed peacefully Monday, February 13, 2023. Becky was born in Roanoke, Virginia on September 17, 1948. She was a devoted wife and mother. Becky is survived by her beloved husband of fifty-three years, Robert Wayne Jones (Bob) and two daughters, Rebecca (Christy) Jones Epperly (Darren) of Newcastle, Virginia, and AmyLynn Jones Morris (Michael) of Belfair, Washington. Becky is also survived by her three adult grandchildren, Jessica, Austin (Grace), and Joseph. Also surviving are her siblings, Sybil N. Taylor(Paul) of Salem, Virginia , Kathy N. Goodall(Bob) of Fredericksburg, Virginia and Paul E. Norris (Melonie) of Charlotte, North Carolina. Becky’s brother-in law, James D. Jones (Jimmy), and sister-in-law, Marilyn C. Jones, will miss the special family relationship they shared. Becky will be greatly missed by numerous family members across the age spectrum, including her aunt, cousins, nieces, nephews, and many friends she and Bob have made through the years. Becky is preceded in death by her wonderful parents, Doris E. Norris and Lloyd Elwood Norris of Roanoke, Virginia.
Becky attended Roanoke City Public Schools and was a graduate of Patrick Henry High School. She attended Ferrum College and received her Bachelor of Science Degree from Radford University. She was a dedicated and outstanding elementary teacher who blessed many children at both Sedgefield Elementary School in Charlotte, North Carolina and Auburn Elementary School in Riner, Virginia. Becky was also gifted in designing house plans as well as using her interior design skills to decorate the completed homes for Norris and Jones Construction Company. She was a supportive and active volunteer member of the Roanoke Valley Pony Club supporting both her girls and niece Kimberly, as the girls competed together at many club events. Becky could often be seen beside the riding ring or near the cross country jumps with a camera, videoing ‘her girls’, and cheering them on to success.!
Becky will be remembered for her special ability to ‘light up a room’ with her outgoing personality, amazing sense of humor, and her winsome smile. She lived and shared her Christian faith and values throughout her life. Her devotion to Bob and her family was always evident to others. In order to secure the best education for their girls, Becky and Bob were both pioneers for the homeschool community in Roanoke County emphasizing their Christian values, their faith, and the importance of family involvement. Both Becky and Bob enjoyed traveling, always together, always with special joy and laughter following them, as their time together was truly a special gift for them. Becky was an avid amateur wildlife photographer and her numerous and beautiful pictures reflect the many travel experiences she and Bob had including Cade’s Cove in Tennessee, the beach, trips across the country , and short weekend drives through the nearby countryside which were among their favorite journeys together.
A Celebration of Life will be conducted at three o’clock pm on Sunday, March 5, 2023 at The Bridge Foursquare Church, 880 Life Drive, in Christiansburg, Virginia. An open invitation is extended to all friends and family who shared life’s experiences with Becky. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to the Grace House Missions @
