On Friday, December 23rd, 2022, Jessalyn Michelle Gallimore–beloved daughter and sister–passed away. She was thirty-three and had waged a fierce battle against the enemy of type one diabetes. Born to Caren and Michael Gallimore and sister to Dakota Gallimore, “Jes” had an avid interest in criminal law, graduating from Old Dominion University and going on to assume the role of Dispatcher for the Virginia Tech Police Department.
Jes was a very driven young woman with an uncommonly strong work ethic. She was also competitively oriented, holding down several jobs while going to school, playing soccer, and becoming an integral member of the competitive Christiansburg Spirit Explosion cheer-leading squad. She graduated early from Christiansburg High School and quickly joined the social retail pioneering movement, representing locally the New York-based jewelry brand, Chole and Isabel.
Jes had long-term plans to pursue studies and work in Criminal Justice, having passed the LSAT and gaining admittance to the program at UNC Chapel Hill before becoming too ill to leave home for her dream goals. Instead, Jes enjoyed travels with her brother, shopping with her mom, and weekend breakfasts with her dad at the Waffle House. Jes loved animals and rescued her cherished dog and constant companion, Rosco. The only possession that came even a little close to that love was her 2017 Mustang.
Although complications from diabetes eventually took her life, Jessalyn fought back and did so with courage and bravery–and on her own terms. God saw fit to call her home to live free–without pain and tubes and hospitals–and with her own heavenly legs. She is and will forever be our true hero. We will miss you, Angel.
Visitation at Horne Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 4th, 2023, from 4 pm to 6 pm.
Please do not send flowers. Instead, we hope that you will send a donation in Jessalyn Gallimore’s name to the Christiansburg Rescue Squad, 100 East Main Street, Christiansburg, VA 24073. Checks can be made out to Christiansburg Rescue.
