Jesse Damon Stafford, 87, of Radford after a long illness passed away on September 1, 2013 at his residence. He loved and lived his life to the fullest but his true passion was farming. Jesse was a member of Belmont Christian Church for 65 years. He was a long time member of the Ruritan Club and Belmont Community Club.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Thompson Stafford and his parents, Robert & Bertha Stafford.
He is survived by four daughters, Judy Snider, Diane Hodges & husband, Don, Joann Craig & husband, Mark, and Robertine Farley all of Radford; grandchildren, Tabatha Snider & Nathan Shapiro, Brandy Browning and Bryan Browning, Jonna McDaniel, Alex Craig & Katie Hensley, Katie Craig, Brent Farley & Kerah Farley, Ashleigh White & Landon White; great grandchildren, Addi Browning, Drew Browning, McKayla McDaniel, Brandon McDaniel, Damon Farley, Stafford Grey Shapiro; sisters, Arbutis McCoy of Iowa, Mida Stanger of Christiansburg, Joyce Proco of Christiansburg; special caregiver, Frances Thornhill; many nieces and nephews.
Jesse is also survived by what he considered his honorary family. Those are a brother, Buddy Hudson & wife, Gladys; children George Hudson & wife, Julie, Butch Hudson & wife, Rhonda; grandchildren, Megan Hudson, BJ Hudson, Kadie Hudson, Isaac Hudson and Ryan Hudson.
The family will receive friends from 5 til 8 p.m. on Thursday, September 5, 2013, at Horne Funeral Home. The funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Friday, September 6th at Belmont Christian Church in Christiansburg with Rev. Beaver Terry officiating. Interment will follow at Belmont Cemetery.
