DRUMMOND, JOHN (JACK) FRANCIS, of Christiansburg, VA, formally of Salt Lake City, UT, passed away June 4, 2008 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Jack graduated from North Carolina State as a Chemical Engineer and was employed by Hercules – Alliant Tech systems for forty five years. An avid gardener, Jack was widely known for his variety of tomato types.
Born in Ontario, Canada, February 16, 1920, the son of the late Flora Lowe and William J. Drummond, he was also preceded in death by brother, Kenneth Drummond and spouse, Jean; sisters, Mona Thompson and spouse, Robert, Gladys Drummond.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Maxine Stone Drummond; his son and daughter-in-law, John and Kathy Drummond, Christiansburg, VA; his daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Robert Gressman, Herber, UT; grandchildren, Ross and Elsha Drummond, Salt Lake City, UT, William T. Drummond, Christiansburg, Stacey and Israel O’Quinn, Glade Spring, VA, Derek and Jennifer Gressman, Tyrel Gressman, all of Heber, UT; two great-grandchildren William James Drummond, Salt Lake City, UT and Baylee Jean Greesman, Heber, UT; nephew and spouse, Robert and Fran Thompson, TN; nieces, Marsha Drummond, and Melissa Neeves and spouse, Allen, all of PA. In Jack’s last days Joe and Kimberly Cappicco of Blacksburg and Reese Hurley, Cambridge, MD became very special to Jack. We thank them for their friendship and prayers.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Goldschmidt, Dr. McCoy, Dr. Ojomo, and Dr. Chun. His wonderful loving caregivers, Pat Lovern, Ruth Moore, Tonya Dawson and Joy Wimmer, Mary Vaughn and Renee Anders. We are very thankful to Carilion New River Valley Hospice for their love, support and care.
