John William Lynch, 92, of Christiansburg, passed away on Monday, January 4, 2016. He was preceded in death by his parents, John B. and Lula Light Lynch; wife, Verna Virginia Cox Lynch; brother, Mike Lynch; sisters, Lula Fralin; sisters and brothers-in-law Jean and Myron Clark, Maisie and Dale Alderman; sons-in-law, Michael A. Merritt and Harvie R. Armstrong; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Freeman and Lala Simmons Cox.
John is survived by his daughters, Judith Armstrong, Brenda Merritt, Bonita Kindermann and husband David; grandchildren, Lisa Yim (Ho), Suzi Armstrong, Jon Merritt, Mike Merritt (Kathy), Virginia Gilland (Mark), Ricky Hubble, Lala Weems (Jeff); great-grandchildren, Isabel Gilland and Joshua Michael Gilland; sisters, Sylvia Bell, Peggy Bolt (Archie), and Pearl Turman (Julian).
John was a World War II Veteran in the U.S. Army. He worked at Sealtest Dairies and for the Virginia Dept. of Corrections.
The family would like to thank his beloved neighbors and caregivers – Phillip and Mary Howard, Edward Abshire, Jr., Donnie and Jonabel Linkous, Pat Lovern, and Whitney Smith.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, January 6, 2016, from 1-2 p.m. at Horne Funeral Home, with the Funeral Service to commence at 2 p.m. in the Chapel, with Rev. Pat Jones officiating. Interment with full military honors will follow in Sunset Cemetery, Christiansburg.
