John Allen Shelton

John Allen Shelton, 81, passed away peacefully at his home on May 8, 2016, with his loving family by his side. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Charlotte Shelton; one brother, Robert Shelton; and two sisters, Juanita and Bernadine Shelton.

Surviving are his wife of 59 years Ina Shanklin Shelton; two sons and daughters-in-law, Mark and Cindy Shelton, and Charles and Tracy Shelton; two special grandsons, Hunter Shelton and Micah Shelton; three sisters and brother-in-law, Ruby and Ted Spradling, Peggy and David Lancaster and Marie Brown; and numerous nieces and nephews.

John was a veteran of the United States Air Force and he retired from Alliant Tech Systems with 37 years of service. John was a member of Cambria Baptist Church for seventy years where he served in many ways, especially helping with food baskets for those in need.

We want to thank all his friends for their love and prayers. Also especially our special friends Jim and Eva Woolwine.

The family will be receiving friends on Wednesday, May 11, 2016, from 6-8 p.m. at Horne Funeral Home. In his loving memory a Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, May 12, 2016, at Cambria Baptist Church with Rev. Keith Crowgey and Dr. Tom Harvey officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Cemetery.
