Johnnie W. Summers, of Riner, born January 27, 1921, went to be with his Lord on February 22, 2015, at the age of 94.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 63 years, Margery Goodenough Summers, whom he met while he was recuperating from injuries received at the Battle of St. Lo in France during World War II. Left to cherish his memory are loving sisters, Martha Holliman of Maiden, NC, Georgia Fowler of Statesville, NC; aunts, Gladys Mitchell of Wilcoe, WV, Mary Bryant of Statesville, NC; nieces, Janice and David Forbes of Dublin, VA, Ellen and Toby Hedge of Radford, Betty and the late Daniel Parish of Anawalt, WV, Sandra and Denny Adams of Statesville, NC; many great-nieces, and great-nephews; as well as special friends, Doug Osborne, Rev. Everett Shepherd, and many church friends at New River Holiness Church.
His love of his guitar and playing music at his church will be greatly missed.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 25, 2015, from 1-2 p.m. at Horne Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will be held directly after at 2 p.m. in the Chapel, with Rev. Everett Shepherd officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Christiansburg.
