José Araiza Galvan

José Araiza Galvan departed this life on August 13,2023 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital.
Jose was born in Jocoqui, Apaseo el Grande Mexico on Sept 7, 1959. Jose had a love for gardening and maintaining a meticulous yard. He gifted the fruits of his labor to his family, friends, and neighbors. He worked for Clark's Hilltop Nursery for over 30 years in Floyd,VA.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife of over 30 years, Shairan Gillespie - Araiza of Check, VA; parents, Silvino Araiza and Maria de Jesus Galvan formerly of Mexico; sister, Reyna Araiza Galvan of Mexico; granny in-law, Panzie Dennis formerly of Blacksburg; father and mother in-law, James and Sarah Mitchem formerly of Pembroke, VA.
Left to honor his memory are his two daughters, Sarah Araiza (Jason Zehnpfennig) and Haley Araiza of Check, VA., brother, Urbano Araiza Galvan of Mexico; sisters, Gloria Araiza Galvan and Rosa Araiza Galvan of Mexico; brothers-in-law, Karl Gillespie and Edward Mitchem, both of Pembroke, VA. sister-in-law, Susan Santolla (Timmy) of Pembroke, VA. Several nieces, nephews, extended family members and loving friends.
Jose also loved his pet grandchildren! Grand dog, Loki and grand cats: Monkey, Harry, Spooky and Kiki.
Visitation will be held on Friday, Sept 1, 2023, from 10 - 11am at Horne Funeral Home. A memorial service will follow at 11am in the chapel.
