Juanita Robinson Edmonds, 82, of Christiansburg went to be with the Lord on March 5, 2013, at Lewis Gale Montgomery Regional Hospital. She was born in Marion, VA, on November 1, 1930, to the late William and Gordie Robinson. She was preceded in death by her husband, John S. Edmonds; two sisters, Cora Myers and Hilda Lilly; and three brothers, Robert Robinson, Jack Robinson and Don Robinson.
She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, Carol Edmonds of Christiansburg, VA; four sisters, Geneva Robinson of Saltville, VA, Irene Goble of Wytheville, VA, Lovella Spencer of Lansing, NC, and Lena Parham of Columbia, SC; and many nieces and nephews that she loved dearly. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend to many.
Juanita retired from Purolator Courier Service where she made many lifelong friends and also became a very familiar face to many in the offices on the Virginia Tech campus. She loved to quilt, play the piano, and could often be found strumming on the guitar or banjo. She loved to cook and most enjoyed being the hostess of many family Thanksgiving dinners.
To those who knew her, she will be remembered for her warm heart and kind spirit, as someone who always saw the best in people and animals, and who always wanted to help – as she did for the many homeless cats that she cared for over the years.
A special thanks to her exceptional doctors, Mike Payne and Dan Osimani who showed her such care and compassion, and to the ICU staff at Montgomery Regional who made every effort to make her comfortable.
The family will receive friends on Friday, March 8, 2013, from 5-7 p.m. at Horne Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 9th at 11 a.m. in the Horne Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Don Shelor officiating. Interment will follow in Chatham Hill Cemetery in Smyth County, VA.
