Justin Daniel Thompson, a lifelong resident of Christiansburg, Virginia unexpectedly went to be with the Lord on Thursday, June 16th at the age of 33. He was a 2007 graduate of Christiansburg High School and proud member of the Virginia Tech Dining Services staff, where he worked as a Chef de Cuisine.
Justin is preceded in death by his grandparents, Louis and Anna Jean Thompson of Christiansburg, Virginia and his close friend Thai Huynh. Left to cherish his memory are son, Micah Thompson, parents Brian and Rita Thompson, grandparents David and Hattie Dove all of Christiansburg, a brother and his family, Travis, wife Casey and daughter Ella Thompson of North Carolina, maternal uncles Eric Dove, and Robert Dove and wife Cindy of Florida, paternal aunt and uncle Brenda Horne and husband Doug of Kentucky, and Barry Thompson of Roanoke, Virginia. He is also survived by many cousins, great aunts and uncles, and friends.
Justin was a loving father who dedicated his life to caring for his son. In his free time he enjoyed cooking, target shooting, playing guitar, watching wrestling, playing video games, and spending time with his friends and family. His generosity and big heart touched many people and he will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.
The family will receive friends at Horne Funeral Home on Friday, June 24th from 6:00PM to 8:00PM. The funeral service is scheduled for Saturday, June 25th at 11:00AM at Cambria Baptist Church in Christiansburg with Pastors Keith Crowgey and Randy Van Dyke officiating. A graveside service will follow at Westview Cemetery in Blacksburg.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the Christiansburg Rescue Squad.
