Katie Ellen Gardner

Katie passed from this life at her home in Rural Hall, NC to be with her savior Jesus Christ.

Katie was employed by the Court Systems of Winston Salem, North Carolina for 18 years. She was born in Montgomery County, Virginia June 19, 1963. She graduated from Forsyth Community College in North Carolina. Katie had a very special love for kitty cats and she loved bluegrass music where she enjoyed volunteering with the Crooked Road organization.

Katie is survived by her mother, Mary Horton of Kernersville, NC; her father, Olen Gardner and wife, Frances of Riner, Va; sisters, Ava Porter and husband, Joe of Roanoke VA and Lesa Gardner of Christiansburg, VA ; brother, Wade Gardner of Christiansburg, VA; step-sisters, Debra Graham and husband, David and Rebecca Stanley and husband, Scott of Christiansburg, VA; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles.

Katie was a very special Christian lady. She loved the Lord and always lived her life to be a friend to those she met and found joy in helping someone if she could. She will be greatly missed by her family and those whose lives she touched.

The family will receive friends Monday, January 16, 2017 from noon to 2 p.m. at Horne Funeral Home. Funeral services will be in the Funeral Home Chapel at 2 p.m. with Pastor Keith Crowgey officiating. Gifts of flowers are appreciated as are gifts to the Montgomery Co. SPCA.
