Katie Sowers

Katie R. Sowers, 73, of Radford, passed away on Wednesday, January 15, 2014.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Luther and Inez Cooper; her first and second husbands, George Rose, Sr. and Willie Lee Sowers; daughter, Melissa Ann Rose; step-son, Joey Sowers; and sister, Charlotte Cooper. She is survived by her children, George and Sharon Rose, and Nancy and Jay Carpenter; grandchildren, Sarah Rose, Wyatt Roop, and Melissa Howdershelt; step-children, Gary and Sheila Sowers, Tammi and Marlon Cox, and Robert and Suzette Sowers; five step-grandchildren; and siblings, Dean Bodine, Kathy Pierce, Royce Cooper, Maymie Tillman, Teresa Cooper, and Roger Cooper.
Katie worked with the American Cancer Society and had been by both her husbands’ sides through their battles with cancer. She loved music and played the piano at Carter Street Methodist Church for three years, and enjoyed crocheting and going to craft shows.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, January 19, 2014, from 12-1 p.m. at Horne Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. in the Chapel. Interment will follow in Highland Memory Gardens, Dublin.
