Khristi Maureen Hurst

On June 15, 2023, Khristi Maureen Hurst, of Shawsville, VA, peacefully departed this life surrounded by her loving family.

Khristi grew up an Army brat and moved around the country throughout her childhood. She married her soul mate, Dennie, in 1986. In the years to come, they raised their family and made their life in Shawsville. Khristi is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Dennie Hurst; son and daughter-in-law, Dennit (DJ) and Allison Hurst; son Dewey Hurst; and daughter and future son-in-law, Khristine Hurst and Adam Anker. She was also blessed to enjoy a beautiful granddaughter, Meredith Hurst. She is preceded in death by her parents.

Khristi was a light in this world with her easy smile, love of nature and the outdoors, and passion for creating Native American crafts and jewelry. She was resilient and a rebel at heart. She loved rock ‘n’ roll and showing her wild side every once in a while, but showed that her heart was made of gold by thinking of everyone else before herself. The only thing it took to make Khristi smile was to see other people smiling. She was the glue, the backbone of our family. We will miss her laugh, her love and her kind spirit with all our hearts. Our lives will never be the same.

In keeping with her fun-loving side, Khristi wanted to be remembered with happiness. We will be celebrating her cherished life on Saturday, June 24 at 2682 Hickman Hollow Rd, Shawsville at 6:00 pm. All who have been touched by Khristi’s life are welcome to attend and join us for a meal in her honor. The family welcomes donation costs for her services.
