Kristin Noelle Collins Martin, age 41, of Glade Hill, was taken into the everlasting arms of the Lord early Sunday morning, May 4, 2014.

She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Luther Elwood Collins; grandmother, Lucy Mae Sarver; and cousin, Chuck Chamberlain.

She is held in memory by her three sons, Gregory Heath Loar and fiancée, Melissa Jenkins, Adam Nicholas Martin, and Gabriel Phillip Martin; grandchildren, Matthew and Alexa Loar; fiancé, Kevin Akers and son Austin; brother, Byron and his wife Melissa and children, Ty Frazier and Camden James. Also left to cherish her memory are her parents, Elwood and Jane Collins; her grandmother, Louise Collins; special Aunts, Diana Collins, Betsy Rittenhouse, Sandra Ridinger, and Jenny Wise; cousins, Chari Chamberlain and children, Stephanie, Stacy, James, and Shannon; Jeff and Teresa Simmons and sons, DJ and Evan; Leslie Mitchell and children, Brooke, Sarah, and Ryan; James Curtis Pugh and family; and Jay and Brenda Foster and daughters, Alexandra and Brittany; as well as numerous special friends.

Kristin loved her family and friends and spent much of her life caring for others, but was especially devoted to her sons who meant the world to her. Kristin graduated form Christiansburg High School and completed a nursing degree through New River and Wytheville Community Colleges. She served as a registered nurse in various hospitals until her physical health proved too disabling to continue in her chosen field. She provided very special care to all of her patients and enjoyed making them smile using her keen sense of humor. Kristin’s talents were numerous, but she especially enjoyed photography, drawing, and painting.

A funeral service will be conducted at St. Paul United Methodist Church in Christiansburg at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 8, 2014, with Rev. Michael Copeland and Rev. Doug Kanney officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Cemetery.
