Altis Sr., Larry D., 50, of Christiansburg went to be with the Lord our Savior on Wednesday, January 21, 2009.
A devoted husband, father, pawpaw, son, brother, and friend to many. He was preceded in death by his father, Herbert W. Altis.
Leaving behind his wife of 30 years, Shirley Altis, the love of his life. Larry was a loving husband who showed loyalty, love, friendship and devotion. He also leaves behind his three children, Cheryl Clark and Milton of Roanoke, Larry Altis, Jr. and Kerri of Pulaski, and Jeanette Crouse and Christopher of Christiansburg. Eight grandchildren, Gavin Clark, Isabella Altis, Keyser Crouse, Kylee Crouse, Miranda Altis, Aeris Crouse, Darrell Altis, Jovie Crouse, and his mother Hazel Altis of Shawsville. And, his faithful companion, Brutis.
A father who was loving, generous, caring and fair, who taught his children the way of the Lord and how to be a kind, decent person. A very loyal and talented husband, father and best friend. A simple man with simple ways and a “Good Man” as so many would say. A man who would give you the shirt off his back, always willing to lend a helping hand. A pawpaw who always had a smile on his face and a treat in his hand when he seen his grandchildren. He also enjoyed participating in auctions and was an avid NASCAR fan.
