Larry Reed Sheppard Obituary June 15th 1955 to December 5th 2024

It is with the heaviest of hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Larry Reed Sheppard, aged 69 of Christiansburg, Virginia. Larry was a loving and devoted father, grandfather, husband, and friend, who left this earth peacefully by his loving wife’s side of 46 years. Larry fought with great courage and endurance as he faced unimaginable battles and trials. His life was a testament to love, kindness, redemption, gratitude, giving selflessly, and unwavering faith, leaving an indelible mark on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

Larry’s generous heart knew no bounds—he never met a stranger and was always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need. A selfless and hardworking man, he approached every challenge with resilience and an unshakable determination, embodying the true spirit of a fighter.

Known for his quick wit, and warm sense of humor, Larry brought light and laughter to those around him. He was a man of deep faith, a lover of Jesus, and an inspiration to all who witnessed his devotion to his beliefs. His faith guided his every step, shaping the remarkable legacy he leaves behind.

Larry also had a special love for animals, sharing his life and his heart with the creatures who crossed his path. Above all, Larry cherished his family, loving them fiercely and unconditionally. His boundless love, wisdom, and support were the foundation upon which his family thrived.

Larry’s memory will forever be cherished by those who survive him: his beloved wife Barbara Lynn Sheppard, his daughter Michelle Lynn Sheppard and her partner Anthony Agnese, son Gary Wade Sheppard and his wife Jocelyn Sheppard, granddaughter Piper Lynn Sheppard, and a host of other family members and friends who loved him dearly. Though his absence leaves a deep void that can never be filled, the love and joy that Larry brought into the world will endure in the hearts of all who knew him.

A celebration of Larry’s life will be held at Horne Funeral Home located at 1300 N Franklin Street, Christiansburg Va 24073 on Tuesday December 10th at 11AM. Open viewing is to be held Monday 12/9 in the evening from 5-7PM.
