Leota Sachs

December 23, 1922 — June 27, 2008

1922-2008

Sachs, Leota Marie, 85, Leota was born December 23, 1922 in East Liverpool, Ohio to Charlie and Jessie Harris.

At 18 she met and married John E Sachs Sr. (who preceded her on the path to Gods Care in 1984).

Leota had two children: a son John E Sachs Jr. and a daughter Moira (Mottsy) Marie Sachs-Moses-Lobello. She had four grandchildren: Neil Moses (Salem, VA), Merissa (Missy) Marie Sachs-Cole (Christiansburg, VA), Wesley Joe Sachs (Grand Forks, ND) and Gerald Peter Sachs and wife Gail (Mesa, AZ). She had two great grandchildren: Shane Moses (Salem, VA) and Tiana Renee' Cole (Christiansburg, VA) and many friends and relatives.

Leota had many more people in her life whom she kept close to her in friendship and laughter and who are better people today because of her. She always held her children to her heart and often took peeks into their privacy, just to insure they were staying on the straight and narrow. She never met a stranger and her list of close friends is far too large to list.

Leota worked as a housemaid for a few homes and offices in East Liverpool, Ohio until 1967 when her husband retired from the Crucible Mill in Midland, PA. Leota and Johnny lived in Shawsville, VA for many years prior to her current residence at Richfield Retirement home since 2001. Together they enjoyed going to Florida for the winters and traveling the country to visit family each year. Johnny would fish everyday in Florida while Leota would care for a special person a handicapped boy named Sonny. He reminded her of her own handicapped sister Edith (deceased). They would take walks along the beach finding shells and trick or treat in funny costumes for Halloween; all of which gave her great joy. Leota was a life member of the DAV Auxiliary. She would volunteer often at the Veterans Administration Hospital and Beach Cafe (The Shack) in Florida to help in any way she could for the Veterans. Leota always kept her word and if she knew she could help someone she always would which at time meant putting her needs behind those of others. Leota’s life can be measured positively by her willingness to help others, her ability to understand the good things in life and the ability of passing those excellent traits on to those around her. She was always loved and revered for who she was despite her dementia and illness later in her life. God has truly taken an angel back to heaven.

Special thanks to the 4 West staff at Richfield Nursing (Salem VA) for taking such great care of her for 7 years. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to the charity of your choice. Thank you.

A graveside service will be conducted 1:30 pm Saturday, July 5, 2008 in the Columbiana County Memorial Park, East Liverpool, Ohio.

As I watched you lose your sense of awareness and how your memory caused your confusion with daily things.
I knew you would need help taking care of all the troubles life brings.
I watched you try to get up and walk and fall and wonder why?
I have seen the question in your eyes of why me lord, why?

Slowly you became frail and limp and you needed help with everything…
The food, the bath and all.
But you held onto life as you loved…being.

We will always have you tucked into a place in our hearts.
The one that says:
Thank You Leota…Mom…Friend!
Couldn’t have done it without you!

We will miss you dearly!
