LeRoy James Kniskern

LeRoy James Kniskern of Christiansburg, VA, passed away on Wednesday, August 3, 2016. Born
in Cobleskill, NY in 1941, Roy graduated from Virginia Polytechnic Institute with a degree in
Electrical Engineering and was a proud member of the HightyTighties. He served as a Captain in
the US Army during Vietnam. After the military, he was a dedicated employee of
PolyScientific/Northrop Grumman until his retirement. He was a passionate ham radio
operator and computer enthusiast.
He was preceded in death by his wife, LaDearl Kniskern; and his parents, Chester Lawrence Kniskern and Pearl Anna Putnam Kniskern. He is survived by his two sons, James and wife, Mary Kniskern of Berea, KY; Kirk and wife, Melissa Kniskern of Christiansburg, VA; six grandchildren, Kyle and Jessica Kniskern, Torri, Eliza, Miriam and Samuel Hokanson; a brother, Kerry and wife, Sylvia Kniskern of DE; brother-in-law, Glenn Cole of Fishersville, VA.
Per his wishes, a private family gathering will be held at a later date.
