Lewis Edward Akers born April 12, 1940 passed away April 3, 2015 at NRV Medical Center after a long battle with COPD and recently cancer.
He was preceded by his parents Curgless and Roxie Akers; and brothers, Harold and Donald. He could build anything from framing a house to electrical, plumbing and trim work to building cabinets and birdhouses or a jewelry box and every thing had to be perfect.
Surviving is his wife of almost 56 years, Beatrice Akers; sons Jeffrey (Denise), Darrell (Michele) and Timothy (Tina); numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brothers James (Sarah) and Sam (Pearl); sisters-in-law, Kathy Akers and Bonnie Katz; as well as brother-in-law, Lucas Reed.

Visitation will be held Saturday, April 11, 2015 at Horne Funeral Home from 12 – 1:30 pm. The funeral service will be held immediately afterward at 2:00 pm at Calvery United Methodist Church, on South Franklin Street, with Reverend Sebert Rorrer officiating.
