On the morning of Wednesday, August 24, 2022, our precious angel, Lois McNeil Basham, earned her wings and was welcomed into her heavenly home. She lived 98 ½ years working hard, raising a family and loving each grandchild and great-grandchild as the family grew. Her greatest joy was cooking for everyone at Thanksgiving and Christmas. Her favorite thing was going ‘up home’ with her brother and sisters to their childhood home. Family was everything to her.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Minor and Corinne McNeil; her husband, Earl Basham; brothers, Howard McNeil and Jack McNeil; sister, Mabel Light; and very special friend, Ward Sutphin.
Surviving are her children, Carol Gunter, Rick (Wanda) Basham, and Gerald (Linda) Basham; grandchildren, Eddie (Tracy) Burlingame and their daughter Makayla (Corban) Neel, Eric Burlingame, Melissa Gunter, Kristi (Steven) Osborne and their daughters Camden and Carrington, Jon (Kristen) Gunter and their sons Joshua and Jakob, Julie (Jeff) Sink and son Adam, Amy (Jay) Kyle and their children Hayden and Kayleigh, Jason (Pam) Basham and their son Marshall, Lindsey Bosley, Logan Bosley and his children Audrey, Elena, and Tammy (Mark) Janney. Also surviving are her brother, Maynard ‘Casey’ McNeil and sister, Louise Shank.
Special thanks to her Medi Home Hospice girls who were such a blessing, Medi Chaplin Mike Neuse, caregivers, Candace Cunningham and Crystal Black, RN Nicole Thompson and all of the staff and nurses on the 2nd and 4th floors of Lewis Gale – Montgomery.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, August 27, 2022, from 1-2 p.m. at Horne Funeral Home. The Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. in the Chapel, with Chaplain Mike Neuse officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Cemetery.
