Lorraine M. Sowers, 81, of Christiansburg, VA, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 27, 2012.
She was born on January 20, 1931 in Pilot, VA the daughter of the late George Willie and Vivian Martin. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Marianne Gearheart, her husband of 52 years, Ferd Archie Sowers and many other family and friends.
She is survived by her granddaughter, Heather Self and husband Denny; grandson, Jeremiah Gearheart and wife Nikki; four great-grandchildren “her babies”, Mason, Blair and Harper Self; and Grayson Gearheart.
The family wishes to thank the wonderful neighbors that cared so much: Steve and Cecelia Perkins and Jean Snider; the fabulous Hospice Nurses Lindsey, Lisa, and Erin; and special friends Kathy Rodgers, Susan Board, Clover Ratcliff, Mary Propst, Miriam Hilton, and many others. A special thank you for all of the cards, calls, visits, and most of all the prayers and support during this time.
Flowers will be appreciated, however those wishing to make memorial donations are asked to consider Pancreatic cancer or The 700 Club.
The family will receive friends at Horne Funeral Home from 5-8 p.m., Tuesday, May 29 , 2012. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 30, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Christiansburg Church of Brethren, with Rev. Don Peters officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Cemetery, Christiansburg, VA.
