Lucille White Dobbins, 89, of Christiansburg, Va, passed away on Friday, May 25, 2018 after a long illness. Lucille was born in Pennsylvania on May 8, 1929 to the late Lester Jack and Belle White. She is survived by her beloved son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Laura Dobbins, her “golden”grandchildren Samuel and Hannah Dobbins, her brother Jim McNabb,her sister-in-law Rosetta White, her son-in-law Jack Neff, and a host of relatives and friends.
Lucille moved to Christiansburg as a teen graduated from Christiansburg High School. After graduation, she worked for Ford Motor Company where she met her future husband, Jim. She stayed home for a number of years and devoted herself to raising her children; however she returned to work when they were in high school and retired shortly before Jim’s death in 1994.
Lucille had the ability to connect with anyone, and will be remembered for her sense of humor, her generosity, and her determination to live life to the fullest. She always welcomed visitors, and showed her delight in their friendship by providing an abundance of food and love, which to Lucille were often the same.
Lucille was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, James C. Dobbins, her daughter Kathy Neff, and her brother Lester Jack (LJ) White, Jr.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 30 from 5-8 pm at Horne Funeral Home, Christiansburg, Va. Services will be on Thursday, May 31 at 11:00 am at St. Paul United Methodist Church, Christiansburg VA.
