Lula Kaye Stout, 73, of Riner, VA, went home to be with the Lord on March 9, 2013. Born in Vilas (Watauga County), NC, she was the oldest daughter of Bob and Isabell Beach Campbell.
Kaye was a 1957 graduate of Bethel High School in Sugar Grove, NC. She married her high school sweetheart, Ernest, in 1961 and moved to Gainesville, FL. They then moved to College Park, MD in 1965 and settled in Christiansburg, VA in 1967 when Ernest joined the Biology faculty at Virginia Tech. Kaye retired from the Montgomery County Public School system in 1997. Kaye and Ernest built their dream home on their farm in Riner in 1997. She was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Riner. Kaye was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Bobbie Edminsten; and grandchildren E.J. and Kayelee Perkins.
Kaye is survived by her husband of 51 years, Ernest Stout of Riner; daughters, Pam (Derek) Brown of Spartanburg, SC and Kelly (Eddie) Perkins of Riner; and son, James Stout, of Port Charlotte, FL. She leaves behind her cherished grandchildren, Ansley and Cameron Brown, Hunter and Isabella Perkins. Kaye is also survived by her beloved sisters, Brenda (Russell) Winebarger of Sebring, FL, and Judy (Lee) Lones of Miami, FL; brother-in-law, Joe Edminsten; sisters-in-law, Louise Moody and Emogene McGhinnnis. She leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, March 13 at Fellowship Baptist Church, 3795 Surface Road, Riner, VA with Pastor James Bradley and Pastor Monroe Hedrick officiating. Visitation will take place from 1-3 p.m. prior to the service at the church. In lieu in flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Carilion Hospice, 707 Randolph St. Radford, VA 24141 or the American Cancer Society, 2840 Electric Road, Roanoke, VA 24018.
