Lynne Mitchell, a long-time resident of the town of Christiansburg, Virginia, passed away surrounded by her loved ones, the morning of Tuesday August 21, 2018.
Born in 1942 in Aiken, SC, Lynne received a High School Diploma from Florence, SC in 1960 and completed two years of a college degree. She married William “Mac” Mitchell in 1962 and together they had three children, Jeffrey, Bruce, and Katy. She obtained a gemology certificate in diamonds in 1995 and worked as a jeweler at Sturgill’s Jewelry for many years. In addition to that, she acted as assistant registrar for Montgomery County and as a florist for her local church.
Lynne loved golf, painting, and gardening, enjoyed socializing, lunches with her friends, and spending time with her family. She had a generous heart and a wit that would keep a whole room laughing.
She is survived by her husband Mac; her three children, Jeff (Kirin) Mitchell of Campobello, SC, Bruce (Cathy) Mitchell in Louisville, Kentucky, and Katy (Matt) Mitchell in Blacksburg, Virginia. She is also survived by twenty-three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild who live all across the East Coast.
Visitation will be Friday, August 31, 2018, from 11:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. at Horne Funeral Home in Christiansburg with the Funeral Service to be held at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel. Interment will follow in Sunset Cemetery, Christiansburg.
A special thank you to Ashely McPherson and Brittany Lawson, caregivers with Good Samaritan Hospice who were both such a blessing to Lynne and Mac and the rest of the family during her illness.
