Mae Clemons Compton of Christiansburg, VA, born November 22, 1929, died on May 17, 2020 at home.
She was born in Oakvale, WV to the late Rola Lathan Clemons and Hattie Mae Dickerson Clemons. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 64 years, Roy V. Compton. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law Wanda and Dusty Cromer of Christiansburg; sons and daughters-in-law, Kenneth and Jeanie Compton of Blacksburg; and Richard and Susan Compton of Christiansburg. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Tim and Ginger Cromer of Christiansburg; Tony and Amy Cromer of Knoxville, TN; Kenny and Lori Compton of Christiansburg; Jessica Compton of Shawsville; Jasmine Compton of Willis; Jason and Cassie Compton of Pilot; Jeremy and Kara Compton of Christiansburg; and Trevor Compton of Christiansburg. In addition, she is survived by her great-grandchildren, Danielle Broce; Cassidy, Kaylyn, and Caleb Cromer; Callie and Josie Cromer; K.J. Compton; Aliza Hines; Wyatt Compton; and Samuel Compton; step-great grandchildren, Leighana Newberry; Mason Cullop; and Cassidy Bond.

Mae retired from Montgomery County Public Schools in 1994 where she was a cafeteria worker. She enjoyed crocheting and cooking for her family. She will always be remembered for her popcorn balls, spoon (preacher) cookies, and fried chicken. She and Roy loved to travel and especially enjoyed visiting Gatlinburg, TN. Her family will always cherish her memory.

The family would like to thank the following for the excellent care provided to Mae: Dr. Badillo and Angie Cridlin with Carilion Clinic Family Medicine and Angie, Miranda, and Alexis with Good Sam Hospice. We would also like to say a special thank you to Kara Compton for taking such loving care of Mae.
There will be a private family graveside at Sunset Cemetery with Rev. Beaver Terry officiating.
