Maedell Grayson Coffey Millirons of Riner peacefully left this earth for her heavenly home on Wednesday March 22, 2017. She was surrounded by many of her family and friends in her last days at her home. It is fitting that she passed at the beginning of spring as it was her
favorite time of year.
Maedell was retired from the Montgomery County school system after 34 years as a secretary at Auburn Elementary and High Schools. She was a very sweet and kind lady who was known by generations of Auburn students and families. She loved flowers, gardening and anything to do
with the outdoors. Maedell also loved animals and was never without her pet cats, dogs and granddogs even as her health declined in later years. She was also an outstanding cook who seldom let her frequent visitors leave without feeding them! Lastly, Maedell was a life time
member of Sydney United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school and was very involved with the United Methodist Women's group.
Maedell was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Raymond Millirons. Also preceding her were her parents, Stanley and Lydia Shelor Coffey; and her brother, John David Coffey. Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Beth Willoughby and husband Rick and their special "daughter" Munin Thongsut; son, Steven Millirons and wife Anna and Maedell's beloved granddaughter Rachel Grayson Millirons. She is also survived by many extended family members and friends as well as her church family at Sydney.
The family also wishes to especially thank her caregivers Jean Wright, Charlotte Graham and
Reva Hylton for their compassion and friendship the last few years.
The Funeral services will be conducted by Reverend Mark Miller and Reverend Craig Reed on Saturday March 25, 2017 at 11 a.m. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Friday, March 24, 2017, both at Horne Funeral Home in Christiansburg.
The loss of Maedell leaves a hole in all of our lives but memories of
she and Raymond will be with us forever.
