Mamie Smith

SMITH, Mamie Carol, 55 of Christiansburg, peacefully went home to be with the Lord, with her family at her side. She was preceded in death by her father; Herman L. Smith.

She is survived by her mother; Myrtle Smith, sister and brother-in-law; Judy and Gil Wurzburger, brother and sister-in-law; Ronnie and Nancy Smith, nieces and nephews; Ashley Wurzburger, Denise Williams and her husband Terry, and Jeffrey Blankenship, great nephew; Peyton Williams. She is also survived by one half sister; Dorothy Meadows, and four half brothers; Mason Smith, David Smith, Alfred Smith and Eugene Smith and a very special aunt, Mamie Clyde.

Carol will be remembered most by her family and friends for her forgiving and loving spirit toward others. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Ringold and Dr. Boerth and to all the nurses and assistance on the forth floor medical unit at Montgomery Regional Hospital, words could not express our gratitude for one special nurse; Karen Lucas, who's compassion will always be remembered by our family.

Friends may call anytime after 12 noon at The Horne Funeral Home on Monday, September 6, 2004 where the family will receive friends from 6 - 8 p.m. Monday evening. The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, September 7, 2004 in The Horne Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Shake Smith officiating. The interment will follow in Sunset Cemetery.
