Margaret Elmore St. Clair, 88, of Christiansburg, formerly of Newport, passed away Saturday, May 4th.
Margaret was born in Kire, VA on January 11, 1925 to V.C and Sarah Elmore. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, John St. Clair; her brothers, Harvey Elmore and Russell Elmore; and her sisters, Nannie Elmore and Lillie Shrader.
She is survived by her sons & daughters-in-law, Michael & Assunta St. Clair of Roanoke, Patrick & Mona St. Clair of Mt. Morris, PA; daughters & sons-in-law, Mary and Kenny Bishop of Riner, Rebecca & Charles Ware of Richmond; grandchildren, Richard St. Clair, Carrie Magill (Merin), Kevin Bishop (Rilka), Gavin St. Clair, and John Ware; and great-grandchildren, Memphis and Emilee-Anne Magill. She is also survived by her brother, Edward Elmore (Sherry); her sisters, Mamie Philpott, Ellen Elmore, Phyllis Lyons; and sister-in-law, Martha Elmore; and many nieces and nephews.
Margaret leaves many friends from Newport where she lived for many years and attended church, and her treasured neighbors from Windsong Heights, and her friends from Christiansburg.
Margaret graduated form New Castle High School. She was a devoted wife and mother, and an active member of her community in Newport. She enjoyed her flowers, gardening, volunteering at the Newport fair, and her sewing and needle crafts. She was a woman of faith who enjoyed studying the Bible.
Her family would like to thank her wonderful caregivers, the staff at Heritage Hall and MediHome Health and Hospice.
A memorial service will be held May 11 at 3 p.m. in the Horne Funeral Home Chapel, with visitation being held from 1 p.m. until the service.
