STONE, MARGARET HELEN LINKOUS, 86, of Christiansburg, passed away Wednesday, October 13, 2004.
She was the widow of Wendell C. Stone. She was born in Montgomery County, VA, on September 30, 1918, a daughter of the late Dallas and Carola Linkous. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Marie Lawson and Stina Thompson. Mr. and Mrs. Stone established Stone's Restaurant in 1956. A post-war Red Cross training program led her into the field of nursing. She worked at the New Altamont Hospital in Christiansburg for many years. She was a member of the Cambria Baptist Church.
Surviving to cherish her memory include: a son, Jerry M. Stone and wife, Evelyn, two daughters, Bonnie Wimmer and husband, Ronnie; Connie Moore and husband, Bill; all of Christiansburg; seven grandsons and wives, Jay Stone and Lisa, Chris Stone and Tambra, Scott Bush and Jessica, Blaine Bush and fiance, Michelle, Bryan Bush, Brandon Moore and Christina Lance Moore and Julie; 10 great grandchildren, Audrey, Emma and Evan Stone, Abbey Stone, Hannah Bush, Mallory, Kallie and Caden Moore, Piper and Silar Moore; a brother, Dallas Linkous, Jr. of Blacksburg; two sisters, Kathleen Albert and Diane Perdue, both of Christiansburg; sister-in-law, Kay Stone, Bristol, VA; numerous nieces and nephews. To her faithful and special caregivers at Heritage Hall Nursing Center, the family would like to extend sincerest thanks and love. Their gratitude goes also to the Gentle Shepherd Hospice for their gentle guidance.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Thursday at Horne Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 15 at the Horne Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Thomas Harvey officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Cemetery in Christiansburg. Flowers will be appreciated or donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 2738 Colonial Avenue, Roanoke, VA 24018.
