Marie Thompson

March 21, 1930 — May 30, 2009

THOMPSON, MARIE WOODS, age 79, of Riner, VA, joined her beloved grandsons, Randall and Frederick Price in heaven on Saturday, May 30, 2009.

She was the daughter of the late Griffin Woods. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 48 years, Fred J. Thompson. She is also by her son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Debbie Price, daughter and long time boyfriend, Teresa Thompson and Ron Baldwin, daughter and son-in-law, Darlene and Kent Fitting, all of Riner, daughter, Donna Slagle, Chicago, Illinois, daughter, Janice Wright, Danville, VA; brother and sister-in-law, Norman and Susan Altizer, Roanoke, VA; grandchildren, “Granny’s Girl” Jessica Wright and husband, Cory , Teresa East, Matthew Gardner, Timothy and Christopher Slagle; three great-grandchildren; two nephews and a niece; numerous cousins and friends.

The family would like to extend a very special thank you to Dr. Conatser and his staff for mom’s exceptional care through the years and during this difficult time; also to the PCU staff at New River Valley Medical Center for the wonderful care provided. A very special thank you to the caregivers at home and to dear friend, Jane Smith.

Flowers will be accepted, however those wishing to make memorial are asked to consider, Christiansburg Rescue Squad, Riner Station, P.O. Box 176, Christiansburg, VA 24068. The family will receive friends at the Horne Funeral Home from 5 until 8 Monday, June 1st. The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 2nd at the Fellowship Baptist Church, Surface Road, Riner, conducted by Rev. James Bradley with interment in Sunset Cemetery.
