Marlin Bishop

June 4, 1935 — April 15, 2014

Marlin Eugene Bishop 78, of Riner, VA went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, April 15, 2014. Marlin was a loving husband, dad, granddad and a friend to all who knew him.

He was born June 4, 1935 in Floyd County. Marlin served his country in the United States Army. He loved the Lord and attended Oak Grove Church and cherished the fellowship of his church friends.
Marlin was preceded in death by his father and mother, Troy Lee and Verna Cox Bishop, a brother Nelson Bishop and sister Reva Scaggs.

Surviving are his loving wife of 21 years, Nita Roberts Bishop; daughters, Scarlett (John) Amspacher of Glenville, PA and Laura Fagan of Dallastown, PA; stepsons, Darrell (Kim) Roberts of Riner, VA and Chris Roberts (Frank) of Roanoke, VA; three grandchildren, Curtis Alban, Olivia Fagan and Ashton Alban of PA; four step-grandchildren, Ashley Roberts, Wesley Roberts of McCoy, VA and Cody Amspacher and Grant Amspacher of Glenville, PA; one sister, Zelwood Weddle of Floyd, VA; two
Brothers, Gordon Bishop of Indian Valley, VA and Jerry (Iola) Bishop of Christiansburg, VA; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

The family will receive friends on Friday, April 18, 2014 from 5 pm to 8 pm at Horne Funeral Home. The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 am on Saturday, April 19, 2014 in the Horne Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Kenneth Kingera officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens with full Military Honors conducted by VFW of Pulaski.

Special thanks to Dr. Harry McCoy and his staff for their love and care for Marlin. Special thanks also to Good Samaritan Hospice, especially Heather, Darlene, Tony and all the staff for being so compassionate to the family.
