Martin Bert McMillion, 85, of Christiansburg, Virginia, passed away on Friday, November 17, 2017.
Martin was born September 7, 1932, in Renick, West Virginia, the son of the late Bert Wallace McMillion and Blanche Burr McMillion. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Janet McMillion Blake.
Martin is survived by his wife of 59 years, Mary Jane McMillion; daughters, Teanna Day and husband Tim, Myra Conner and husband Kirby. He is survived by grandchildren, Kate Day, Bethany Day, and Mason Conner; sisters, Christine Johnston and husband John, Faye Howard, Sandra Hayes and husband Edward; as well as many nieces and nephews.
After retiring from Virginia Tech as an associate professor, Martin pursued many hobbies including square dancing with the New River Squares, skiing adventures with the Roanoke Ski Club and tending his small Christmas tree farm.
Martin was a member of Christiansburg Presbyterian Church since 1973, shortly after moving to Christiansburg.
Martin is an inspiration to family and friends on a life well-lived. He was dearly loved and will be truly missed.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, November 25, 2017, from 10-11:30 a.m. at Christiansburg Presbyterian Church. The Funeral Service will follow at 11:30 a.m. with Dr. Don Makin officiating. Interment will be at 3 p.m. at Greenbrier Memorial Gardens, Ronceverte, West Virginia.
