BISHOP, MARVIN, age 66, of Roanoke and formerly of Christiansburg, went to be with the Lord Wednesday, March 14, 2007.
He was born December 7, 1940 in Kimball, WV, the son of the late Clarence and Essie Bishop. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Roscoe Bishop. Marvin was a member of Cambria Baptist Church. He was a graduate of Virginia Tech with a Marine Corp Commission as a Second Lieutenant. He was a veteran having proudly served in the Marine Corp during the Vietnam War being honorably discharged as a Captain.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, John Wesley & Jane Bishop; his daughter and son-in-law, Wendy & David Kelley; six grandchildren; his sisters and brothers-in-law, Sylvia Rutherford, Nancy & Alvin Hale, Celia & Bill Cassell, Anna & Richard McGuire, and Lois Burnette; brothers and sisters-in-law, Clarence & Brooke Bishop and Earl & Sue Bishop, and many loving nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Saturday, March 17, 2007 at the Horne Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Sunday at the Horne Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Christiansburg with military graveside rites by VFW Post #1184.
