Marvin Paul Yates, 72, of Christiansburg, passed away into eternal rest on Saturday, September 21, 2013, at Roanoke Memorial Hospital.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Garland and Geneva Yates; sister-in-law; Linda Yates; and brother-in-law, Tommy Basham; along with several aunts and uncles. He was a Veteran of the United States Army.
He is survived by his loving companion of thirty years, Ann Sarratt; daughter, Kathy Trump; brother, Reginald Lee Yates; and sister, Betty Yates Basham. He is also survived by his granddaughter, Misty Goodwin; great-granddaughters, Makaylee and Aubrey; along with aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Children of his companion, Shayna and Scott and many friends also survive.
The family will receive friends at the Horne Funeral Home from 5-8 p.m. on Tuesday, September 24, 2013. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, September 25, 2013 at 2 p.m. in the Horne Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jube Burk and Rev. Virgil McHone officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
