Mary Walters Eanes

Eanes, Mary Ruth Walters – July 15, 1923 - July 23, 2018, 95 of Christiansburg, passed away Monday, July 23, 2018 at Richfield Nursing Home in Salem, VA.

Mary was the daughter of the late Archie Phelgar and Bertha Linkenhoker Walters. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Vernie Lewis Eanes; son, Robert Lewis Eanes; granddaughter, Julia Hall DeMole; and 15 siblings.

Mary retired from Corning Glass Works and continued to work as a volunteer for RSVP. She held several awards for all her volunteer works. She was well-known for her cooking abilities and infectious giggle.

Left to cherish her memory are sons, Dewey Eanes (Shirley), Gary Eanes (Cami); daughter, Dixie Eanes Hall (Kenny); and special daughter-in-law, Linda Rader Eanes; eight grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren, many wonderful nieces and nephews, as well as, a special friend (Preacher) Alonzo Hardy.

Mary was a long-time member of the Belview United Methodist Church. Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 26, 2018, at Belview from 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM. Funeral Service will be at 2:00 PM. Interment will follow services at Sunset Cemetery in Christiansburg.

In lieu of flowers a contribution can be made to the Belview United Church in her memory.
