Mary Ellen Reynolds (Bush) Elgin, 82, of Elliston, passed away on Tuesday, September 18, 2012, at Lewis Gale Montgomery Regional Hospital.
She was born on May 1, 1930, in Craig County, VA to the late James O. & Elizabeth Reynolds. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Warren E. Reynolds; and sisters, Virginia Simmons and Jean Williams.
She is survived by her husband, Charlie Elgin; daughters, Carla Dewey (George) and Mary McKenzie (Don); grandchildren, Gabe McKenzie, Erin McKenzie, and Nicole Watts; and one great-grandchild, Hailey Watts.
Mary graduated from Maywood High School in Craig County. She retired from General Electric in Salem after 34 years. She volunteered many hours to the Women’s Auxiliary of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5311. Mary loved cooking, gardening, crocheting, beekeeping, reading, cheering for the Hokies and most of all, caring for her family.
The family will receive friends on Friday, September 21, 2012, from 12-2 pm at Horne Funeral Home, with a memorial service directly after in the Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made in Mary’s name to the Veterans of Foreign Wars Women’s Auxiliary, 490 High Street, Christiansburg, VA 24073.
