Goans, Mary H. “Amy”, 93, of Christiansburg, VA, completed her journey to her heavenly home on Thursday, February 10, 2011.
Born September 7, 1917 to Henry C. and Willie M. Chumbley, a lifelong resident of Christiansburg and educated in Montgomery County Schools, she was a retired nurse and a member of the Belmont Christian Church.
Amy, as everyone knew her, was well known for her piano and organ music in many different churches whenever needed and got a blessing from sharing food, clothing or anything to help those in need.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph E Goans, four sisters and two brothers and is survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family will receive friends from 2 until 4 and 6 until 8 Saturday, Feb. 12th at the Horne Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 13th in the Horne Funeral Chapel conducted by Rev. James Bayne and Rev. Dale Akers with interment to follow in Belmont Cemetery. The Goans Family is being served by Horne Funeral Service, Christiansburg.
