Heaven sent an angel to gather a beautiful flower for the Master’s bouquet on Saturday October 22, 2016. Mary Ellen Hall Johnson, 75, of Shawsville went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
She was preceded in death by husband, Levi Johnson; companion, Lowman Bryson; father, Glenn Hall; mother, Janie Wheeling Hall; brother, Ottie (Buddy) Hall; sister, Thelma Davis; son-in-laws, Danny Beckner, Steve Bain. She is survived by her children, Chuck Johnson (Terry), Elizabeth Bain, Virginia Richardson (Calvin), Robin Beckner; very special grandson, Lewis Johnson (Brenda Burton); grandchildren, Robert (Melanie), Mary Beth, Angela, Jeremiah, Amy, Matthew, Danielle, Ashley; great-grandchildren, Kaitlin, Hailey, Riley, Jonathan. She is also survived by brothers and their spouses, Cecil Hall (Pat), Elmer Hall (Mammie), sister, Betty Lou Hendrix (Ed), sister-in-law, Edith Hall and also Glenn Hall (Susie); special "daughter", Janice Johnson, special "sister" Edna Jean Nolen and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mary Ellen had a gentle heart, a beautiful smile along with a wonderful sense of humor. Those that crossed her path were blessed with having known her. She dearly loved her children and grandchildren and also her many pets. In her earlier years she enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening and canning. She loved playing bingo and listening to music. Her former employment was at Meadowbrook Nursing Home as a CNA, a position that she held very proudly.
The family would like to express their thanks to the staff of English Meadows Assisted Living and Heritage Hall Nursing Home for their loving care during her residency there. She will be greatly missed by roommates George Ann and Paula. Thank you to the doctors and nurses at Lewis Gale Montgomery Regional Hospital for their great care during her recent illness.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, October 25, 2016 from 5-8:00 p.m. at Horne Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, October 26, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at the Horne Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Virgil McHone officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Cemetery, Christiansburg, Va.
