Miller, Mary Iva, age 96, of Christiansburg, passed away peacefully in her sleep at Snyder Nursing Home in Salem, VA on Friday, November 7, 2008.
She was born in Floyd County, Virginia to parents Alia Cooper Lane and Hiley C. Lane. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie C. Miller and two brothers, Warren L. and Rockford H. Lane.
She is survived by her son, Larry A. Miller and wife, Sharon, of Kingsport, TN; Other survivors include a sister, Gladys Lane Goodwin and husband, James Robert, of Salem, VA; a brother, John B. Lane and wife, Etta of Roanoke, VA; along with devoted nieces and nephews.
Mary Iva spent most of her life in Christiansburg. She was a long-standing member of the Christiansburg Church of the Brethren and a vitally dedicated and talented member of her family and community. She will be missed by all who knew her.
The family wishes to acknowledge Dr. Michael J. Payne, of Blacksburg, for the many years of quality service he provided for her. The family also extends their deepest gratitude to Snyder Nursing Home. Dr. Nevin and the entire staff provided excellent and compassionate care to Mary Iva in her final years. Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, November 10, 2008 at 2:30 p.m. at the Horne Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Donald B. Peters officiating. The family will receive friends at Horne Funeral Home from 1:30 p.m. until time of service. Interment will follow in Sunset Cemetery, Christiansburg, VA.
