Mary Saunders
October 4, 1939 — February 23, 2006
SAUNDERS, MARY LOU, age 66, born October 4, 1939, of Christiansburg and formerly of Craig County, departed this life to join her Lord and Savior Jesus on Thursday, February 23, 2006.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Luther Troutt and Willie Snider Troutt; her husband, Robert L. Saunders; two infant children, Patricia Ann and Donnie Lee Saunders; brother, Frankie Snider; step sister, Pearl Shaver; father and mother-in-law, Lamah Peck and Sadie Saunders. She is survived by her daughters and their husbands, Debbie and Ronnie Duncan of Christiansburg; Ruby and Larry Sheppard of Prices Fork, Diana and Donnie Williams of Floyd; granddaughters, Tina Wright and husband, David, Christy Sheppard, Samantha and Kaitlyn Davis and three great grandchildren, Austin Tyler, Maranda Grace and Angila Michelle Wright, a very special nephew Ricky Saunders and wife, Roberta Greenville, SC and a special friends, Roy Akers and Frankie Stanley.
Other survivors include brother-in-law, Harold Saunders and wife, Christine and sister-in-law, Frances Sarver all of New Castle. She has numerous nieces and nephews and other family whom she loved dearly. Mary was blessed to have many wonderful friends and neighbors of Craig County and Christiansburg and many co-workers at Virginia Tech.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. Saturday at the Horne Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, February 26 at the Bethel United Methodist Church (Sinking Creek on Route 42, off Route 460, Blacksburg), with Pastor Clyde George officiating. Interment will follow in Ross Cemetery, Craig County.
