Mary Ann Whitescarver of Riner, passed away on December 3, 2014. She was born in Franklin County, Va., on October 27, 1946. She graduated from Franklin County High School and attended Radford University. She lived most of her life at Smith Mountain Lake, Va. Mary Ann was a loving mother, grandmother, and friend. She was very active in her younger years and enjoyed water skiing, snow skiing, tennis and bridge. She was a talented gardener, wonderful cook, and a gracious hostess.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Theodore and Pearl McGuire; and her sister, Shirley Amos. She is survived by her loving husband, Charles ‘Dub’ Whitescarver, Jr.; daughter, Sonia Terrell and husband, Pres of Lynchburg, VA; son, Taylor Townes and wife, Victoria of Greensboro, NC; step-children, Lynn Everette of Kings Mountain, NC, Charlie Whitescarver and wife, Christi Wayne of Christiansburg, VA, Robert Whitescarver and wife, Jeanne Hoffman of Swoope, VA, and Captain Paul A. Whitescarver, USN, and wife, Katie of Chesapeake, VA; grandchildren, Prescott, Branson, Alec, and Ann Claire Terrell, Samantha and Cassie Townes; step-grandchildren, Neal Whitescarver, Heather Thomas and husband, Shane, Kyle and Garrett Whitescarver; brothers, Curtis McGuire and Jerry McGuire; sisters, Ruth Peck and Teresa McGuire; and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, December 7, 2014, from 1-2 p.m. at Horne Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will be held directly after at 2 p.m. in the Chapel, with Rev. Michael Copeland officiating. Interment will follow in the Memorial Gardens of the New River Valley, Blacksburg.
