Ellen Rolen, 86 of Christiansburg, VA went to be with the Lord on November 18, 2017. She was a devoted wife, mother and Mamaw. She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Cecil Rolen, of 53-1/2 years, daughter Debra Sue Rolen, brother Jimmy Huff and sister Katie Morgan of Tennessee.
She is survived by her daughters and sons in law, Terry and Billy Hanks of Christiansburg, Kathy and David Graciano of Pittsburgh, grandchildren Kayla and husband Joey Penca, Dylan Hanks of Christiansburg, Kristy and husband Scott Sosso, Gina and husband Lou Astorino all of Pittsburgh. She left behind 5 great grandchildren, 2 brothers, George Huff of Cosby, Tennessee, Danny Huff and wife Alice of Collinsville, Illinois, and 1 sister, Virginia Whaley and husband Ron of Hickory, North Carolina.
Ellen loved her family and church, where she taught Sunday School and sang in the choir for many years. She also loved serving God and witnessing to others. She was compassionate, loving and caring. She would always say, “I just try to be kind to everyone” and “I just love to talk, laugh and have fun”.
Thanks to the Crossings at Blacksburg and the amazing staff who showed their love, compassion and support to the end. Also, thanks to the 4th Floor Nursing Staff at Lewis Gale Montgomery Hospital for taking such wonderful care of her during her time there and to Good Samaritan Hospice for their support, caring and kindness in our time of need. Thanks to her hairdresser and special friend whom she loved so much, Melissa Hinkley of Ultimate Touch Hair Salon in Christiansburg. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 21, 2017 from 5:00 until 6:30 pm at Christiansburg Baptist Church with the funeral service to follow at 6:30 pm with Pastor Sean Couch officiating. A private interment will be held at Roselawn Memorial Gardens at a later date.
