Maynard Lee Doss

Maynard Lee Doss, age 90, of Christiansburg, VA, went to be with the Lord on Monday, February 17, 2020. He was born in Max Meadows, VA, and served in the US Army from 1948 to 1952. He spent most of his work life as an inboard / outboard boat motor mechanic with Valley Marine Center and Harkrader Marine. He was a faithful member of Christ Wesleyan Church for over 60 years. He was a humble and loving father and husband. For more than twenty years, he was his wife’s primary caregiver.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Marion Doss and Minnie Coffey Doss; brothers, Paul, Luther, Fred, Hersel and Willard Doss; sisters, Mary Doss Collins, Ruby Doss Bianco, Beatrice Doss Stillwell, and Zale Doss. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Janice Dickerson Doss; daughters, Susan Doss Howard (Bob) of Abingdon, VA, Sherrie Doss Fowler of Winston-Salem, NC, and Stacie Doss Cox (Chris) of Pulaski, VA; grandchildren, Morgan Fowler Adams (Matt), Logan Fowler, Jesse Fowler, Dylan Cox, and Gracyn Cox; great-grandson, Lincoln Adams; and many loving cousins, nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, February 22, 2020 at Christ Wesleyan Church with Rev. Gale Janofski officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 12:30 p.m.
The family wishes to thank sister-in-law, Judy Dickerson, friend, Chuck Miller, Pastor J and the other members of Maynard’s church family for the loving and sacrificial support, especially in the last few years. The family is grateful to the staff of Kroontje Health Care Center and Good Samaritan Hospice for the compassionate care of Mr. Doss during his final months.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Christ Wesleyan Church.
